Sorority Recruitment Outfit FAQ

What do I wear during sorority recruitment?

Sorority recruitment outfits are often composed of highly feminine mini dresses, ranging from casual sundresses to more formal gowns as rush continues. During the preference round, many girls opt for formal midi or maxi dresses. Other common sorority recruitment outfits include rompers and two piece sets.

Can I wear a skirt during sorority recruitment?

Yes! Rush skirts are a popular choice for the earlier, more casual rounds of sorority recruitment. Mini skirts, skorts, and matching skirt sets paired with a polished top are all stylish options that can help you feel confident and comfortable throughout the day. Since recruitment often involves walking between houses, standing for long periods, and meeting lots of new people, choose a rush skirt that allows for easy movement and fits your campus’s dress expectations. As recruitment becomes more formal, many potential new members opt for midi or maxi dresses for preference night.

How many outfits do I need for sorority recruitment?

The number of days that sorority recruitment lasts is dependent on your individual school. Typically, sorority recruitment spans anywhere for 4 to 8 days, though some campuses may push the timeline to two weeks. You only need one outfit per every day of sorority recruitment, though it’s always important to bring a few backup outfit options.

Can I wear a mini dress during sorority recruitment?

You can absolutely wear a mini dress during sorority recruitment. In fact, mini dresses are the most common outfit choice amongst sorority potential new members. Sorority recruitment is deeply rooted in tradition, and there may be a lot of walking, sitting, and standing during long, warm days, so ensure that your mini dress is appropriately in line with those factors. During the beginning, more casual stages of sorority recruitment, you may also choose to wear rompers, skirts and skorts, or two piece sets. For the final night of sorority recruitment, often called preference night, a maxi dress may be more suitable than a mini dress.

What are the sorority recruitment fashion trends for 2026?

The 2026 sorority recruitment fashion trends include bold statement details, such as large twists or bows, structured silhouettes, and soft feminine colors, such as light pinks, blues, yellows, and greens. To stay up to date on the latest sorority recruitment fashion trends, many people refer to popular social media apps, like TikTok, for inspiration and direction.

Where can I shop for sorority recruitment dresses?

You can shop for sorority recruitment dresses and other pieces at online or in person boutiques. While you may find some suitable options at major retailers, occasion wear driven boutiques tend to have more rush oriented dresses. These shops can be discovered through browsing the web, searching on social media, or visiting college towns.
