10 Easy Poses to Elevate Your Instagram
Do you love taking photos for Instagram but find yourself doing the same poses over and over? I know I do! If you are in need of some photo inspiration, look no further, here are ten easy poses that anybody can do that will be sure to spice up your photos. It’s time to add some variety to our feeds!
Pose #1 : The “Gotta tie my shoe”
For this pose all you are going to need is a chair or just something to sit on! This picture is going to be perfect if you have a pair of shoes that you really want to show off, as your foot is going to be raised - making it the main focus of the photo. You can also angle your body more towards the camera and come in closer if you want to put more attention and emphasis on the shoe!
Tips: Try to maintain good posture in this photo so that it will keep your body elongated rather than hunched over! Focus on bringing your foot to your hands, not vice versa.
Pose #2 : The “Hands up high”
As you can see from the inspo photo, raising your hands up and stretching as much as you can, really accentuates the body; making you look taller than you are. This is a perfect pose if you don’t have any props to play with in the photo and find yourself saying “I don’t know what to do with my hands!”
Tips: Have whoever is taking your photos take them from a lower angle. This will make or break the photo!
Pose #3 : The “Sit pretty”
Don’t have any props? No walls to lean on? Chairs to sit on? This pose is definitely going to be perfect for you! Crouch down with one arm straight over your leg and the other resting under your chin. Such a simple pose that is so cute and makes you look so sweet and innocent!
Tips: Try to keep your body in the very center of the frame!
Pose #4: The “Don’t look at me, look at my outfit”
This pose is one of my personal favorites because it doesn’t matter what your face looks like and you can do it by yourself! All you will need for this picture is a mirror and something to lean on. I love this pose because it allows you to really show off your outfit, as that is the main focal point - your face is covered by your phone. You could also wrap your legs around to the front if you want to include your shoes as well!
Tips: Make sure your phone is leveled when taking this picture. You don’t want it angled to high up or too low!
Pose #5 : The “Look at my sunnies”
Obviously for this pose you will want to have a pair of glasses in hand. Holding up the glasses to the camera will give your photo more dimension and is a super easy way to switch up your photos! Another reason why I love this pose is because it is a fun way to show off all of your accessories - from the glasses, to the bracelets, to the shoes, to the purse.
Tips: Be sure to have your front foot out slightly further than the back foot. You’re going to want your photographer to be leveled with you for this one!
Pose #6 : The “Baddie crossing”
Walking in a photo like this one is a perfect way to give some movement to the picture! You don’t want every single photo to be so posed and look stiff, you want to add in some more natural candid looking photos.
Tips: Be sure to have whoever is taking the photo snap a bunch! The movement photos require a faster shutter speed!
Pose #7 : The “Suns in my eyes”
I personally love this pose because it is an easy way to do something with your hands rather than having them by your side or feeling like you don’t know what to do with them. I also love the shadow effect it creates on your face, giving it a more artistic feel! All you have to do is act completely natural - block the sun as you normally would and rest your other hand on your hip.
Tips: For this one we will obviously want to be outside in the sun. Angle your body slightly to the side rather than completely straight forward. Also, you can tilt your head a bit when blocking the sun or just keep your head straight - whatever feels more natural!
Pose #8 : The “Flamingo”
When posing it is important to note/remember that you want to try and create triangles with your body. This pose is a great example - if you look at her leg that is lifted it is creating a triangle shape. You can see this also in pose #7. Both of the arms are creating triangles! This causes the picture to look more flattering!
Tips: When taking this picture, snap the photos as you are lifting your leg rather than posing and snapping!
Pose #9 : The “Act natural”
Feeling fierce? This is definitely the pose for you. My favorite part about this pose is that its a great way to show off a stunning jacket, coat, or even a purse! All you’re going to do here is lean on any wall, left on leg up resting your heel on the wall, and put one arm over your head.
Tips: Take a tiny step forward from the wall. When you lean back try to sit into position. Rather than having all your weight resting on your shoulders, have it rested at your hips!
Pose #10 : The “Don’t worry, I was parked”
Keep it casual with this final pose. All you need is a car and some good lighting! This is perfect for showing off your face - whether you’re keepin’ it natural or have a full glam look! All you’re going to want to do it lift one leg up resting it on the seat, and lean with one arm on the head rest.
Tips: Make sure you are parked somewhere! You will also want to recline your seat back a tad so that you can lean and not look super up-right.
Xoxo,
Tori
